The regulation pages, and the one thing that matters most

This site publishes summaries of hunting regulations for every US state, thirteen Canadian provinces and territories, and Mexico. Read this part even if you skip the rest.

The regulation pages are a research aid. They are not the law, and they are not legal advice.

• Every answer is written from the agency’s own published regulations, and every page shows the date it was last verified and links to the source it came from.
• Regulations change, sometimes mid-season, and agencies amend and reissue their own documents without notice. A page that was correct when it was verified can be wrong today.
• Rules also vary by county, unit, refuge, wildlife management area and municipal ordinance in ways a state-level summary cannot capture.
• Where something could not be confirmed against the agency, the page says so rather than guessing.

Before you hunt, confirm the rules with the wildlife agency for the place you are hunting. Every state and provincial page links to that agency directly for exactly this reason. You are responsible for hunting legally. I am not, and no summary on this site transfers that responsibility.

If you find something on this site that does not match what your agency says today, tell me and I will correct it. That is not a courtesy, it is how the pages stay usable.

Safety

This site discusses firearms, ammunition, night hunting, thermal and night vision equipment, and the handling of dead animals. All of it assumes you already know how to handle a firearm safely and are legally entitled to possess one. Nothing here is a substitute for hunter education, and several states require a hunter education certificate before they will sell you a license.

Field-craft advice on this site is one hunter’s experience, not instruction, and you follow it at your own risk.

No warranty, and what I am liable for

The site is provided as it is. I put real work into accuracy and I correct mistakes when they are pointed out, but I do not warrant that everything on it is complete, current or error-free, and the regulation pages in particular carry the caveats above.

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for loss, fines, citations, lost hunting opportunity, injury or damage arising from your use of this site or from anything you did after reading it. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you have paid me, which for most readers is nothing.

Using the content

The writing, photographs, diagrams and the ebook are mine and are protected by copyright.

You may quote a short passage with credit and a link, share links freely, print pages for your own use, and use what you learn here however you like. Ideas are not owned; nobody needs permission to put the sun at their back.

You may not republish pages or substantial extracts on another site, resell the ebook or share the file, present this material as your own, or use the content to train a commercial model without permission.

The ebook

Buying the ebook gets you a personal, non-transferable license to read it and keep your copy. It does not transfer copyright and does not permit resale or redistribution.

Refunds: if it does not help you call more coyotes, ask within 30 days and I will refund it. No form and no questions. Ask through the contact page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from them belongs in the state or federal courts of Utah.
