I’m new to the whole coyote hunting experience. If you could please help me out. I’m trying to find the laws for hunting in Texas. it’s getting rather difficult lately with all the new laws changing do to the rapid growth of predator hunting in Texas.
Coyote hunting in Texas is pretty laid back. You can hunt them 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a yearon private property. You can hunt them with a decoy, you can bait them, you can hunt them at night with the aid of artificial light, and you can hunt them at all times with any firearm or archery equipment with no restrictions on ammo, caliber, supressors or bag limits.
You need a Texas hunting license to hunt predators including coyote, red or grey fox, bobcat, raccoon or cougar. There are a few black bear around northeast Texas but they are HIGHLY protected! Wardens ask that any cougar sightings or harvest and any black bear sightings are reported.
If you intend to sell or transport furs there are other licenses and tags required.
There is very little public land to hunt in Texas but each area has it’s own rules for hunting. Some do no allow any predator hunting at all so it woild be wise to find local regs for the property you would access.
Call ’em up and put ’em down! 👍
